The duration of study is a full academic year consisting of two semesters, during which the student is fully committed to theoretical, practical, and training studies. The total number of credit hours required for any of the available diploma programs is not less than 24 credit hours.
From two to three days of full-time commitment are required for study, including Saturday.
It is required for enrollment in the diploma degree that the applicant holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree from one of the Faculties of Science at Egyptian universities, or an equivalent degree from any scientific institute recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities.
No specific grade is required for enrollment in the diploma program.
There are currently two professional diploma programs: the Environmental Resources Diploma and the Forensic Science Theater Diploma.
The applicant must hold a higher education qualification (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) from one of the recognized public universities, or from any accredited higher institute recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities.
Professional diploma programs do not qualify students to continue the academic track toward a Master’s degree in the Faculty of Science.
It is required for enrollment in the Master’s degree that the applicant holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with at least a “Good” overall grade from one of the Faculties of Science at Egyptian universities, or an equivalent degree from any scientific institute recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities, and a “Good” grade at least in the specialization subject.
The Faculty Council, based on the recommendation of the relevant department council, may accept the enrollment of a student with a grade lower than “Good”, provided that the student has obtained one of the postgraduate diplomas from a recognized Faculty of Science accredited by the Supreme Council of Universities with at least a “Very Good” overall grade.
The duration of study is a full academic year consisting of two semesters, during which the student is fully committed to theoretical, practical, and training studies. The number of credit hours required for any Master’s preparatory specialization is not less than 18 credit hours.
After successfully completing the preparatory stage, the student conducts research on a topic assigned by the main supervisor, approved by the department council, the graduate studies committee, and the faculty council. The student submits a thesis, which is equivalent to 18 credit hours. Therefore, the total number of credit hours required to obtain the Master’s degree is 36 credit hours.
The minimum period required to obtain a master's degree is one calendar year from the date of thesis registration, and the maximum period is five calendar years from the date of thesis registration.
To be admitted to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Science program, an applicant must hold a Master's degree in Science in the same specialization from one of the Faculties of Science at Egyptian universities, or an equivalent degree from a scientific institute recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities. The applicant must submit an application to the Graduate Studies Administration for enrollment after obtaining the approval of a professor or an associate professor to supervise the research. The application shall then be presented to the relevant department council for approval of the supervision, determination of the research field and plan, and approval of the required coursework.
The minimum period required to obtain the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Science degree is two calendar years from the date of registration, and the maximum period is five calendar years from the date of registration, subject to periods of suspension of enrollment. The registration period may be extended for a maximum of one additional calendar year upon the approval of the supervisors, the relevant department council, the Graduate Studies Committee, and the Faculty Council.
Upon the recommendation of the principal supervisor, the relevant department council may determine the specialized coursework to be taken by the student from the approved list of courses, in accordance with the department's regulations, up to a maximum of 16 credit hours. An additional 44 credit hours are allocated to the dissertation, bringing the total number of credit hours required for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Science degree to 60 credit hours.
