I am pleased to welcome you to the Biophysics Department, where we work together to integrate the principles of physics into the study of biological systems. We aim to develop a deeper understanding of the interactions between physics and biology, and apply this knowledge in multiple fields such as medicine, agriculture and the environment.

About

Founded in 1982 by Prof. Fadel Mohamed Ali, with support from Physics Department professors at Cairo University. To date, it remains the only department of its kind across science faculties in Egyptian universities.

Biophysics is a standalone science that studies the physical properties of biological systems and the physical effects on those systems.

Study System

Duration

• First 2 Years: Core Subjects in general physics, mathematics, and chemistry

• Last 2 Years: Specialized Biophysics, spectral analysis, and medical imaging physics

Evaluation

Exams and Graduation Projects. Includes semester and end-of-year exams, in addition to an applied graduation project in one of the department\'s research fields.

Practical experience through training in the department\'s laboratories and Cairo University hospitals.
